The other day my wife said, “I think the Google Maps car might have passed by our house.”
She was out on the balcony, holding our daughter and enjoying the sunshine at the time.
I already knew that for some reason the road in front of our house gets updated on Street View more often than usual.
So I replied, “Well, maybe you’ll show up on Street View soon.”
A few days later…
There she was. 😂

My wife, holding our daughter, was captured perfectly on Street View—blurred face and all—alongside our laundry.
It looked kind of funny, but at the same time, it felt like a sweet memory with our daughter had been preserved online.
Still, it’s a mystery. Some streets in the Tokyo metropolitan area don’t get updated for years, yet this quiet residential road in Chiba gets updated so frequently.
What’s more, the photos were taken in August and already updated within the same month.
Google sure works fast.
I wonder how far back we’ll be able to look at past images.
If only they told us the shooting schedule—our whole family would gladly wait together on the balcony every year.
